An Abilene man is dead after his pickup truck collided with an 18-wheeler and a minivan on eastbound I-20 near West Lake Road.

The crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. on Friday.

Police say the driver of a white 2009 Ford F-250 Crew Cab pickup truck was headed west on I-20, when for an unknown reason, he crossed the median, went over a wire barrier and came into oncoming traffic.

The pickup was then hit by a silver 2006 Dodge Caravan minivan and a red semi-tractor-trailer rig.

The driver of the pickup, William Randall Webb, 28, was ejected from the pickup truck and pronounced dead at the scene.

Webb was wearing his seat belt but was ejected from his pickup due to the severity of the impact during the collision.

CORRECTION: The driver of the minivan was not charged with DUI a police first told KTXS.

This was the 8th crash on I-20 since Friday morning.

It is the first fatal crash of 2019 in the City of Abilene.

I-20 was closed for about two hours.
