2 injured after pair of pickup trucks collide in south Abilene

A collision involving a pair of pickup trucks in south Abilene on Monday evening has sent two people to the hospital.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Monday, the Abilene Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of South 23rd Street and Barrow Street in south Abilene, where two pickup trucks were reported to have collided.

According to authorities, a Ford Ranger was heading eastbound on 23rd Street when it was t-boned by a grey Dodge pickup at an intersection, causing the Ranger to roll over several times.

Both of the occupants of the Ford Ranger, who were both reported to be older individuals, were transported to a local hospital, with one of the Ranger's occupants suffering serious injuries.

The driver of the grey Dodge pickup was reported to be a teenager.

Conflicting information has been given about which of the pickup trucks ran a red light to cause the collision.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but there are no signs that alcohol or any other kinds of impairments played a role in the wreck.
