Local woman turns her hobby into a prosperous career
ABILENE, Texas — Jamie Purnell is a certified professional organizer and the owner of Adorn Your Space.
“We actually specialize in organizing whole homes and so I talk about it as transforming spaces," says Purnell.
A hobby turned into a successful business. During Purnell's adjustment moving from Los Angeles to Abilene, she had an important question to ask herself: was she going to go back into her higher education career of follow her passions?
This is how she says, her decision was made.
“I literally was just sitting there one day, probably organizing my home because it was just something that I always automatically did. It just popped into my head. I was like 'oh my gosh' I think this is my next move,” she said.
Adorn Your Space was born. Its sole purpose to take away the stress that people have with spaces that are overwhelming to them.
Purnell claims, “we literally will transform it. I call it our Adorn Your Space magic.”
Purnell is an inspiration for her kids and the community as she shoots for the stars.
“Being a woman of color and minority and doing things that historically in the past may not have been an opportunity for us," says Purnell.
She told us that Abilene was the perfect place to pursue her dreams, stating “Abilene is a small business friendly town and they have embraced my business since the day I was like ‘hey, I’m here’. I am appreciative and truly blessed about the support that Abilene has given my business.”
