Police say a father and son shot and killed a neighbor in a dispute over trash.

John Miller, 67, and Michael Miller, 31, are both charged with murder.

Chief Stan Standridge said they got calls at 10:17 a.m. about shots fired in the area of South 3rd and Don Juan streets.

When they arrived, police found Aaron Howard, 37, in the alley. He had been shot at least twice.

Howard was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

Standridge said Howard and the Millers have been having a dispute over trash.

Saturday morning, John Miller went to take out the trash, armed with a handgun.

Things escalated and Michael Miller went inside and grabbed his shot gun.

Someone reportedly went into Howard's house to get a baseball bat.

Standridge said John and Michael Miller both shot Howard.

“I need us to be Abilene strong. Much violence has occurred in our great city. But this is our city.," Standridge said. "We are Abilene strong and this violence does not have to define our city.”
