The Taylor County Sheriff's Office is looking for a police impersonator.

According to the sheriff's office, the suspect -- who was driving a white Chevy Tahoe with an "old style rotating light bar" on top -- pulled over a woman about 2 a.m. Thursday in the 300 block of FM 89 in Buffalo Gap.

He walked up to the car, took her wallet, ran back to his SUV and drove off.

The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 6’ 2” tall, weighing 200 lbs. He was clean shaven and wearing a black baseball cap.

This is the only victim the sheriff's office knows about at this point.

If you see the vehicle or have any information about this case, call 325-674-1300 and ask for Detective Kirk Whitehurst.

If any vehicle tries to conduct a traffic stop and you are unsure whether the driver is a real police officer, call 911 and ask the dispatcher if you are being stopped.
