‘Canadian’ man arrested in Abilene on immigration charges
ABILENE, Texas —
A “Canadian” man wanted by the U.S. Border Patrol was arrested during a traffic stop in Abilene.
According to the arrest report, Laurie Kenneth McMann, 31, was driving a car police stopped Saturday afternoon on South 1st Street because his passenger was not wearing a seatbelt.
McMann told police “he was not a U.S. Citizen, but from Canada,” according to the report.
Police contacted border patrol which said McMann “was a fugitive from immigration.”
He was taken to the Taylor County Jail where he is being held without bond.
