Police learned Renteria was at a home in the 2500 block of South 18th Street. They set up a “surveillance perimeter “ around the home and waited for SWAT.

When SWAT tried to contact Renteria, he broke out a back window, jumped out and fired at officers.

However, Renteria “had unknowingly dropped the magazine from his weapon,” while jumping out the window. This meant he could only fire the round in the chamber.

No officers returned fire.

Renteria then dropped his gun and ran. He was arrested after a short foot chase.

The gun, shell casing, and magazine were all recovered.

According to police, Reneteria shot a woman in the head and a man in the chest around 3:15 a.m. Friday at The Edge apartments on Judge Ely Boulevard. The shootings followed fights at a bar and a gentlemen's club.

The victims were taken to the hospital in critical condition, but are expected to survive.

Reneria will be charged with aggravated assault. His bond will be at least $250,000.

He could also face additional charges including aggravated assault on a peace officer and evading arrest.
