Cook Children's presented with check on behalf of Region 14 Benefit Co-op

A check from Abilene is headed to Cook Children's Health Care System in Fort Worth.

National Benefit Partners and Chubb Life presented a check for $15,870 to Cook Children's Healthcare System on behalf of the Region 14 Benefit Cooperative Wednesday.

The Region 14 Benefits Cooperative is made up of 23 school districts in the area, including Abilene Independent School District, and represents 5,000 school employees.

The money was raised by allowing life insurance to be sold in those districts.

"Realizing that to help the community is something that the district is all about especially with children, so this is an additional incentive that allows them to contribute monies to Cook Children's Hospital," said Mary Beth Harris, the managing director for U.S. Employee Benefits Services Group.

The money will also benefit those from the Big Country who need to travel to Cook Children's Health Care System for for treatment or care.
