DPS: 18-year-old dead in accident near Abilene Landfill, 1- year-old seriously hurt
ABILENE, Texas — State troopers with the Department of Public Safety responded to a deadly accident at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Troopers said Diego Hernandez, 18, died in the accident.
It happened at US 83 and FM3034 in Jones County near the Abilene Landfill.
Abilene police and firefighters were also at the scene.
Firefighters used the jaws of life to get people out of that car.
Investigators said three passengers in the back seat, including a one-year-old, were in serious condition.
According to DPS, a construction truck t-boned a small Ford on the passenger side traveling west on FM 3034.
An off-duty trooper was first on the scene and immediately began administering CPR on the one-year-old.
Investigators said that one-year-old was not properly restrained.
