ABILENE, Texas — Two people were flown to a burn unit in Plano after a boat fire in Abilene.
The fire started around 10:20 p.m. Monday at Tige Boats on Hwy 36.
When firefighters arrived, an employee had already pulled the boat out of the building using a forklift.
Firefighters put out the fire and ventilated the building with large fans.
Isabel Espinoza -- the man who pulled the boat out -- was taken to Hendrick Medical Center and then flown to Plano Medical City, according to a family member.
The family member also said a second person was flown to the same burn unit and four others were taken to Hendrick.
The fire department originally said one employee was transported to Hendrick Medical Center and treated for smoke inhalation.
The fire started in the motor compartment of the boat.
According to the fire department, the boat -- which was halfway through the assembly line process -- sustained most of the damage estimated at $100,000.
