Fire breaks out at a storage building in the John Middleton Unit

A fire broke out at a prison in far northeast Abilene on Friday night.

Around 11:30 p.m., the Abilene Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at the John Middleton Unit.

When firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was seen coming from a storage building.

The fire was quickly brought under control.

Damage is estimated at $4,000.
