Firefighters extinguish residential blaze in north Abilene

The Abilene Fire Department battled a fire on Wednesday afternoon at a home in north Abilene.

About 3:15 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 1900 block of Clinton Street.

The fire was apparently spotted by somebody riding past on their bicycle.

When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy smoke coming from the home.

The house reportedly had multiple additions over the years.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control about 4:05 p.m.

Nobody was injured and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

The American Red Cross has been called in to provide support for the home's occupants.
