A homeowner who didn’t want to go on record, said these large-size hailstones did significant damage to his roof—and possibly his solar panel. The damage doesn’t always appear on the outside, but there could be problems internally.
One of those main issues could be a weaker panel.
Kyler Long of Abilene Solar said it’s ideal to have protection.
“Get insurance,” he said. “You know, check several separate quotes. We want to be sure we’re detailed enough that the customer is prepared for the future. In such events that you actually need you actually lose a solar panel multiple or it causes damage to your roof, you want to be sure that you’re covered.”

“You want to protect these things just like you do your home,” he said. “That’s why it’s important. You don’t want to invest $50,000, right? And one storm come through and it not be covered. So it makes sense and generally, that’s a very easy concept to explain to anybody. When you go to the hospital, if you don't have insurance, it can be detrimental.”
