High-speed chase in Tye ends in north Abilene, police looking for driver
ABILENE, Texas -- A man who led Tye police on a chase that topped speeds of 120 miles per hour is still on the run.
Police tried to stop a 1987 Chevrolet Caprice Classic at Jaguars in Tye, but the driver took off.
The chase ended around 10:30 p.m. when the car crashed into a fence on North 9th and Plaza streets in north Abilene.
The driver bailed out of the vehicle and ran off.
Officers from Tye, Abilene, Merkel, the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Public Safety searched the area along with an APD K-9.
Unable to find the driver, the eventually called off the search
Officers also searched the suspect’s car.
The man's name has not been released.
