Man indicted for shooting at south Abilene 7-Eleven

    One of the two men arrested in connection with a shooting at a 7-Eleven in south Abilene has been indicted.

    Antwon Lamar Ellis, 25, was indicted for aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of marijuana.

    Police say Ellis shot a 22-year-old male in the arm in May 2018 during an argument outside the 7-Eleven at South 7th and South Clack streets.

    Swann told police the gun used in the shooting was his.

    The unlawful possession of a firearm and possession of marijuana charges stem from a separate incident.

    In December 2017, Ellis was sitting in his vehicle, stopped in the middle of the road with no headlights on.

    Police said the smelled marijuana coming from the car.

    He confessed to having a quarter pound of marijuana in the center console and a gun.

    According to the indictment, police found marijuana and a Walther .380 handgun.

    Swann was convicted in 2012 of possession of cocaine.

    The gun, which he claimed to have purchased two days earlier from a friend, was listed as stolen.
