Police searched a south Abilene home for several hours on Thursday, looking for evidence in a nearly two year old missing persons case.

The Abilene Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division set up crime scene tape at 1710 S. 17th Street. A neighbor told KTXS that police arrived at the house at about 3:30 p.m.

Sgt. Mike Moschetto with CID told KTXS News that they were following up on a tip about Patricia Ford, who went missing in Abilene on September 9, 2016.

According to a website called The Charley Project, Ford, 52, spoke to her daughter the day before she went missing and on Sept. 9, she had meeting with HUD about finding housing.

Ford has not been seen or heard from since that day and has not made any withdrawals from her bank account, according to The Charley Project.

When KTXS arrived at the home on South 17th Street, there were several detectives from the Abilene Police Department's Criminal Investigations Division and members of APD's forensics team on the scene.

A neighbor told us police were tearing up floorboards in the home.

Detectives coming out of the home appeared to be hot and sweaty, and one of the detectives was seen throwing away white "moon" suits that are commonly worn by investigators to keep them from contaminating crime scenes.

Moschetto said they "located some items of interest" inside of the home before they left at about 8:40 p.m.

Moschetto also said that there have been "allegations of foul play" in Ford's case, but that it would be "premature" to say whether or not they think that she may not be alive.

At the time of her disappearance, Ford was 5-foot tall and weighed 100 pounds. She has blonde hair, hazel eyes and wears dentures.

She has a scar on the outside of her right thigh and the following tattoos:

  • "Bryce" on the upper left side of her back
  • Heart on her lower back
  • Barbed wire around her left wrist
  • Tribal bracelet around her right wrist

Ford may use the name Patricia Bowman Smith.

If you have any information about the case, you are asked to call Abilene police at 325-673-8331.
