The saturated ground is being blamed for a power pole falling in north Abilene.

Police got a call Thursday evening about a pole on Ambler Avenue at Grape Street that was leaning.

Police and the Abilene Fire Department dispatched crews to direct traffic.

While they were, the pole came crashing down onto Ambler.

Roads were closed two blocks in each direction.

AEP Texas said they've never seen this happen before.

According to the AEP Texas outage map, 265 customers in that area were without electricity as of 6:30 p.m.

Abilene has seen 9.35-inches of rain since the beginning of the month. That makes it the 4th wettest October on record, with two weeks to go.
