Suspect arrested in murder of missing Abilene woman believed buried under home

An Abilene man is accused of killing a missing woman and then burying her under his house.

Police arrested Timothy Jon Dwelle, 58, for 1st degree felony murder in the death Patricia Smith Ford.

His bond was set at $250,000.

According to jail records, the murder occurred on September 8, 2016. Ford was reported missing the next day.

About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, police announced on their Facebook page that a warrant had been issued for Dwelle. He was in custody about an hour later.

Dwelle was questioned at the Law Enforcement Center before being taken to the Taylor County Jail at 12:30 p.m.

On his way out of the Law Enforcement Center, KTXS asked Dwelle if he had anything to say.

He replied, "it's a wonderful life."

Police have been digging under a house in the 1700 block of South 17th Street. After his arrest, police told KTXS that Dwelle owns the home.

According to a search warrant, police found bone fragments and skeletal remains under the living room floor.

Police said the remains were sent to a DNA lab for testing.
