Two men arrested, charged with evading police after shots fired at Lake Fort Phantom

George Arizpe and Joe Gamez were arrested on Tuesday afternoon by Abilene police and charged with evading arrest after multiple shots were fired at Lake Fort Phantom.

APD responded to the 7700 block of West Lake Road after multiple shots were fired.

Upon arrival, officers heard gunshots on fenced/gated property and observed Arizpe and Gamez.

As the two men identified themselves, they took off on foot, according to police.

Arizpe was detained and arrested on FM 600. He was charged with evading arrest.

Gamez appeared shortly after and was charged with evading arrest with a previous conviction.

ABILENE, Texas — Two people are in custody after multiple shots were fired the last two days at Lake Fort Phantom.

Abilene police responded to the 7700 block of West Lake Road around 2:30 p.m.

Officers said two men ran off, dropping their guns.

One was arrested.

They found a vehicle and tracked down the owner who said his son was driving the car.

Police used their drone to search the wooded area.

They eventually got the second suspect to come out of the woods.

Police said they face drug and weapons charges.

Monday, people at the lake reported shots flying over their heads.

Police searched the area but never found anything.
