U.S. Men's National Team ties with Wales in FIFA World Cup opening match

The U.S. men's soccer team returned to the FIFA World Cup for the first time in eight years tying with Wales, 1-1 in its Group B opening match Monday.

Timothy Weah delivered the first goal of the day at the 36' mark, but Gareth Bale carried through with the score for Wales.

The U.S. Men's National Team is the youngest in the 2022 World Cup field in Qatar. Meanwhile, it was the first time Wales has played in the signature event in 64 years. It was the first time both teams met in an official competition.

Up next, the U.S. prepares for England Friday at 1 p.m. England dominated in its opening match, scoring six goals in a 6-2 victory over Iran earlier Monday.
