2 killed, 2 injured in head-on crash in Fisher County

Photos by Joe Fry/KTXS News: At least one motorist was killed Friday morning in a head-on collision on Hwy 57 – two miles from the unincorporated town of McCaulley in Fisher County.

FISHER COUNTY – Two people were killed and two were injured in a head-on crash Friday morning in Fisher County.

According to the preliminary crash report from the Department of Public Safety, David W. Wilcox Jr., 22, of Hamlin was headed north on FM 57.

Around 7 a.m., Wilcox drifted into on-coming traffic. His 2008 Ford Explorer hit a 2008 Chevrolet pickup head-on, less than a half-mile north of McCaulley.

Two passengers in the pickup -- Cruz Fernandez-Valles, 42, of Munday and James Nathan Pierce, 45, of Haskell – were killed in the crash.

Wilcox and the other driver, Jose E. Castorena, 51, of Knox City, were both transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

DPS said no one in either vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
