$388,000 in cash found hidden in truck after it broke down on I-20 in Nolan County

An El Paso man with a truck load full of cash broke down in the wrong place for someone suspected of laundering money.

About 9:30 p.m. Saturday, a state trooper stopped to assist Ramon Arreola, 52, who was stranded on I-20 in Nolan County.

Suspecting illegal activity, the trooper contacted a Texas Parks and Wildlife Department canine unit.

The canine alerted on the 2007 Dodge pickup.

A search of the vehicle revealed numerous bundles of cash hidden inside the tool box.

DPS seized more than $388,000.

Arreola is charged with money laundering.

Arreola was transported and booked into the Nolan County jail.
