Guilty: Anson man sentenced to 24 years for 2016 Abilene apartment complex murder
ABILENE, Texas -- A 20-year-old Anson man pleaded guilty to a 2016 murder five days before the start of his trial.
Jared William Dean Dykes, 20, was sentenced to 24 years in prison.
Dykes -- who was 18 at the time -- shot Roberto Cisneros in the chest during a fight in May 2016 at the Abilene North Apartments.
Cisneros, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two witnesses identified Dykes as the person who shot Cisneros with a pistol.
Dykes’ trial was scheduled to begin Monday
Kobe Poston - the other suspect in the case -- pleaded guilty last year to aggravated assault. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
That sentence will run concurrent with the 15 years he received for pleading guilty to aggravated robbery in another case. In November 2015, Poston stole $20 and two cases of beer from an Abilene convenience store.
