Autopsy photos of Abilene corrections officer shown during inmate's capital murder trial

Gruesome photos of Marianne Johnson's body were shown during Day 5 of the Dillion Gage Compton capital murder trial.

Compton is accused of killing Johnson in July 2016 at the French Robertson Unit.

Autopsy photos show bruising to Johnson's face, head, neck, and chest.

There are also bloody scratches around her face and neck.

Dr. Tasha Greenberg, a Tarrant County Medical Examiner, told the jury these injures are consistent with blunt force trauma.

The petechia, broken capillaries, under Johnson's eye lids and inside of her mouth are consistent with pressure placed to the neck, according to Greenberg.

Johnson's family members stormed out of the courtroom while the photos were shown.

Compton told police he choked Johnson to keep her from telling anyone about their sexual relationship.
