TYE, Texas — The border patrol agent who was hit and killed by a car in Tye has been called a hero.
Congressman Jodey Arrington said "few people in their lifetime will earn the title of hero . Donna Doss unequivocally did."
Doss was assisting the Texas Department of Public Safety and Tye Police Department when she was hit by a car about 8:15 p.m Saturday on the I-20 service road.
"This is yet another reminder that our border patrol agents and other law enforcement officers put themselves in harms way day in and day out to keep our communities safe," said Arrington.
Senator Ted Cruz also shared his condolences.
"Sad to hear of the death of BP Agent Donna Doss," Cruz said. "Please join me in praying for her family in the wake of their loss. Let us always remember and remain grateful for the Border Patrol Agents and their families who make courageous sacrifices to protect Texas and our country."
State Senator Dawn Buckingham called Doss' death tragic.
"Ed and I send our condolences and prayers to this agent's family and the law enforcement community," said Buckingham.
