DPS identifies 4 people killed in head-on crash in Callahan County

    The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the four people killed Wednesday afternoon in a head-on crash in Callahan County.

    According to the preliminary report, James Everette Hurley, 37, of San Angelo, lost control of his 2018 Ford Transit van on a State Highway 206, four miles northeast of Cross Plains.

    The van crossed into the northbound lane and crashed head-on into a Lexus GX460.


    Hurley was killed in the crash, along with one of his seven passengers -- Joyce Jordan Collier, 67, of Brady.

    Two people in the Lexus were also killed -- the driver, Bryan Joseph Mikulik, 48, and his wife Debra Ann Mikulik, 52, of Forney.

    Their teenage daughters were both injured in the crash.

    Olivia Mikulik, 14, was transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth in critical condition.

    Alexa Mikulik, 15, was transported to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene with non life-threatening injures.

    Five of the other six passengers in the van were taken to Hendrick Medical Center with non life-threatening injures:

    • Lisa Ann Collier, 36, of San Angelo
    • Joshua Chase Collier, 19, of Voca
    • Grace Spurgin, 14
    • Emily Spurgin, 8
    • Hayden Hermes, 11

    William Quinn Collier, 20, of San Angelo was taken to Eastland Memorial Hospital in Eastland with non life-threatening injures.

    Mikulik is a well known name in the San Angelo area. Bryan Mikulik's father, Harvey, owns Mikulik Sausage in San Angelo.
