House destroyed, 5 pets killed by fire in Albany

A house was destroyed and five pets were killed by a fire early on Wednesday morning in Albany.

Chief Kyle Tischler of the Albany Volunteer Fire Department said that the call for help came in at 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

It took a total of five hours to put out the house fire on Greg Street in Albany.

The house was destroyed and some vehicles that were parked close to the home suffered damage.

Tischler said that the cause of the fire was "electrical in nature."

The family who lived at the home lost everything, including five dogs.

The homeowner -- Trisha Reyes -- was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
