Some parents would say finding a firearm at school is no laughing matter. This week, parents of Rising Star learned about a 3rd grade Rising Star elementary student finding a gun in a bathroom stall. The gun belonged to Superintendent Robby Stuteville. The incident happened last month. Thursday evening, the incident was discussed during a Rising Star ISD board meeting.
“For our kids' protection, we need someone who is more responsible with a gun,” said Elizabeth Lee.
Lee, who has two grandchildren attending Rising Star schools, said the school district not being transparent with parents is upsetting.
“I was shocked because it happened early in January and we’re just now finding out about it,” she said. “Mr. Stuteville is a good man. But that was irresponsible.”
We reached out to Superintendent Stuteville but he did not want to comment. Lee hopes the school district learned from this situation.
“I just hope and pray everything works out like it’s supposed to.”
