3 arrested for burglary of Brownwood High School

Brownwood Police have arrested three men in connection a burglary at Brownwood High School.

Christian Charles Carey, 17, of Brownwood, Aaron Lee Tolbert, 20, of Comanche, and Victor Aaron Rodriguez III, 20, of Brownwood, are all charged with engaging in organized criminal activity (burglary of a building)

Rodriguez is also charged with tampering with or fabricating evidence, possession of a dangerous drug and possession of a controlled substance.

Police say the three men broke into the school Sunday night. They have not said what they took.

On Monday, police released surveillance photos of the suspects on social media. They were identified within hours thanks to "numerous tips," according to police.

“Once again the Brownwood community has come forward to assist in solving a significant crime in our community,” said Chief Terry Nichols. “Our Detectives and School Resource Officers have been working day and night on this investigation and we are happy these suspects have been identified and apprehended.”

Carey was arrested on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, police executed a search warrant at a home in the 3600 block of 2nd Street and arrested Rodriguez.

Property stolen from the high school was recovered at this house and one other in Brownwood.

Tolbert was also arrested on Wednesday.

“Brownwood Pride is more than just a saying," said Superintendent Dr. Joe Young. "This community provides great facilities, supplies, and equipment for its schools."
