Issue with Brown County 911 services resolved

    911 services have been restored to Brown County.

    According to Frontier Communications, the issue was caused by a short in an old copper communications line between Abilene and Winters.

    The Brownwood Police Department encourages all residents to program the non-emergency phone number -- 325-646-2525 -- into their cell phone.

    Brown County is experiencing issues with their county's 911 services.

    Brownwood Police Chief Terry Nichols said that the outage was sporadic in nature.

    According to Nichols, the issue began shortly after 6 p.m. and AT&T is working to fix the issue.

    Anybody with an emergency in Brown County is asked to call 325-646-2525.

    It is unknown how long it will take to fix.

    Brown County is having issues informing the public about the situation because of the ongoing global Facebook outage.
