Brownwood attorney Bill Ruth was arrested Friday night.

He was booked into the Brown County Jail after 7 p.m.

Ruth is charged with assault on a public servant, resisting arrest, evading arrest and contempt of court, according to the Brown County jail log.

The contempt charge was filed in the 35th District Court on Dec. 17 -- according to a document Ruth posted on Facebook. He was ordered to be held for 30-days.

    Bond was set at $8,000.

Details of what led to the contempt charge were not immediately available. But the document on Ruth's page said it's related to the case John Green vs Memorial Park Medical Center, Inc.

Ruth represented Memorial Park Medical Center, Inc.

Ruth has been at odds with 35th District Court Judge Stephen Ellis for years, blasting him on social media and making claims of corruption at the Brown County courthouse.

Since November, Ruth has sent KTXS at least a dozen emails claiming he is being unfairly targeted by the judge.

In 2012, Ruth was indicted for filing a lawsuit on behalf of his elderly grandmother in order to profit from it. The charges were later dismissed.

Ruth ran for District Attorney in 2016 and lost to longtime DA Michael Murray.
