A 5-year-old Early girl is in the hospital and her mother is behind bars after a drunk driving crash.

Early police say Kimberly Nethery, 31, was driving down Early Blvd. (Hwy 377) Tuesday night when she failed to veer to the right where the highway divides. She lost control of her pickup truck and rolled it twice.

Nethery's daughter -- who was was not restrained -- was ejected.

The little girl was flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. Her condition is currently unknown.

Police said they could smell "a strong odor of alcohol" on Nethery.

Nethery said she believed it was 7:40 a.m. and that she was taking her daughter to school at the time of the accident.

However, the accident occurred at 7:40 p.m.

Police took a blood sample from Nethery that will be submitted to the DPS lab for analysis.

Nethery was arrested and taken to the Brown County Jail.

She is charged with driving while intoxicated with a child passenger under 15 years of age, driving while license invalid, failure to maintain financial responsibility and unrestrained child in a vehicle.
