BROWNWOOD, Texas — The Texas Parks and Wildlife is investigating a drowning at Lake Brownwood.
The body of Gary Hipp, 63, of Coahoma, was found floating around 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Lake Patrol Chief Troy Henderson said Hipp was putting his boat in the water when he either slipped on a rock or his trailer.
Hipp went under and didn’t resurface.
A witness found Hipp's pickup truck parked on the boat launch.
The door was open and his boat was adrift.
They waited 20 minutes to see if the owner would come back and then call ed the Brown County Sheriff's Office,
The sheriff's office contacted lake patrol.
Before they could get on the lake to start dragging it, Henderson said Hipp's body resurfaced.
The body was taken to the Tarrant County Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
