Abilene child porn suspect is retired member of the U.S. Air Force

Carl James Hodgkinson (Taylor County Jail)

An Abilene man that was arrested on child porn charges is a retired member of the United States Air Force.

Carl James Hodgkinson, 47, of Abilene, was arrested on Friday and charged with possession of child pornography.

According to a search warrant, Hodgkinson is "military."

The warrant does not specify which branch of the military he belonged to or whether he is active-duty, but the Abilene Police Department confirmed that Hodgkinson is retired Air Force.

Police executed the search warrant on Friday at Hodgkinson's home on the 800 block of Victoria Street in north Abilene.

They seized a cell phone, computers, USB devices, laptop, SD cards and external hard drives from Hodgkinson's residence.

According to police, the hard drives "contained numerous images of children performing sexual acts."

The tip that led to Hodgkinson's arrest came from Wichita Falls.

The Wichita Falls Police Department contacted Abilene police on July 30 to say that they had received "numerous National Center for Missing and Endangered Children reports" on an IP address in Abilene.

According to the warrant, one of the files that was uploaded using the IP address in Abilene showed a prepubescent white female exposing her genitalia.

Abilene police traced the IP address to Hodgkinson's home, where they believe that the original image was stored.

Hodgkinson has a pending federal weapons charge for possession of a homemade silencer.

Hodgkinson was released from the Taylor County Jail on Saturday on $15,000 bond.
