Judge revokes probation of Abilene man convicted of murder, serving life in prison

A judge revoked the probation of an Abilene man convicted of murder and serving life in prison.

Judge Lee Hamilton also sentenced Wesley Dale Mason to an additional 20 years behind bars.

Mason -- who has ties to the Bandido motorcycle gang -- was convicted last month of murder in Jones County for the shooting death of Dusty Childress.

At the time of Childress' murder in March 2017, Mason was on probation.

In 2014, Mason helped dump the body of a man who was beaten to death with a wrench.

Mason and Patrick Gutierrez put Carey Rod Tate's body in a dog kennel and dumped it on private land in Hawley.

Mason pleaded guilty to tampering with a human corpse and was sentenced to eight years deferred adjudication and a $1,000 fine.

Gutierrez was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to tampering with evidence.
