Local man arrested in Abilene creek bed after escaping police, striking officer's vehicle

ABILENE, Texas — A man is behind bars after hitting a police unit with a stolen vehicle.

According to an arrest report, Joel Davis attempted to escape officers during a traffic stop, and in the process struck an officer's unit with his vehicle.

Davis was later seen walking in a creek bed in Cobb Park in the 1000 block of Kirkwood. Davis admitted to stealing the vehicle that he escaped from police in earlier.

While they were searching his backpack, officers found prescription drugs that did not belong to Davis.

He was arrested for evading with a vehicle, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of a dangerous drug. He is currently being held in the Taylor County Jail on several bonds totaling $25,000.
