Lilly handily defeats Fryar in race for Brown County Judge
BROWNWOOD, Texas —
Republican nominee Paul Lilly has soundly defeated independent challenger Steve Fryar in the race for Brown County Judge.
With 100 percent of the precincts reporting, Lilly has garnered 79 percent of the vote, compared to 21 percent for Fryar.
Lilly, an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at Howard Payne University with a long career in law enforcement, defeated incumbent Brown County Judge Ray West, who had been serving in that role since 1992, in the Republican primary back in March.
Fryar, a prominent Brownwood business owner, joined the Brown County Judge race as a last-minute independent write-in candidate back in August.
