20-year-old shot by friend who was negligently handling firearm

ABILENE, Texas — A 20-year-old man was shot by his friend early Tuesday morning.

According to an incident report, the gunshot was a result of the friend's 'negligent handling of a firearm.'

The friend fled the scene, and officers were unable to locate them. The incident occurred in the 1000 block of East Lake Road.

The 20-year-old was taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
