LUBBOCK, Texas — A 26-year-old man has died following a plane crash in Lubbock Friday.
According to a press release from the Texas Department of Public Safety, Tyler Christie, 26, of Lavon, Texas took off from Lubbock Executive Airpark around 11:38 a.m. in a Beechcraft, Barron 58P twin engine.
The plane crashed 3/4 of a mile to the northwest of the runway at 11:40am. The plane caught fire when it crashed, and Christie was unable to exit. He was pronounced dead on scene.
The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board were notified and will take over the investigation of the cause of the crash.
