2nd suspect arrested in string of 7 Abilene convenience store robberies

The second suspect in a string of seven convenience store robberies in Abilene is now in custody.

The Abilene Police Department arrested 19-year-old Joe David Rivera at a residence in north Abilene on Thursday morning.

Rivera, who is from the Metroplex, was apprehended after the Abilene Police Department's SWAT team served a warrant at the home where he was staying.

Rivera also had a warrant out for his arrest in the Metroplex.

Authorities arrested the other suspect, Kariem Alejandro Quickel, 17, of Abilene, on Friday.

Quickel and Rivera robbed seven convenience stores in Abilene over a five-day span, stealing money and/or cigarettes, according to authorities.
