RUSK COUNTY, Texas (WOAI) -- More than $5,000 has been raised for the family of a 9-year-old girl who died in a car crash in Rusk County, Texas just moments after taking her first-day-of-school photo on Tuesday.
Nine-year-old Payton Crustner was pronounced dead at the scene while her 16-year-old brother and two other passengers were transported to the hospital following the crash, according to KYTX.
Reports say Miranda Michelle Clark, 32, was driving Crustner, Crustner's brother and a three-year-old passenger when the car collided with Marcus Wayne Dukes's, 18, pickup on Farm-to-Market 225 near Laneville. Dukes turned left into oncoming traffic, the two vehicles collided and Clark's car spun clockwise partially off the road in the northbound lane.
A Facebook fundraising page was created by family friend LeAndria Starr to help raise money for Crustner's funeral expenses with the goal of $10,000.
"Please keep this family in your prayers," the post said. "All monies donated will go to Payton's family to cover funeral expenses."
KHOU11 reports that Crustner's brother is still in the hospital in ICU in critical condition.
