Abilene City Council considers allowing dogs on some restaurant patios

The Abilene City Council is one step closer to approving an ordinance that will allow people to dine with their dogs on the patios of some Abilene restaurants.

The Abilene City Council's members unanimously approved the first reading of the item at Thursday's city council meeting.

The item was on the last city council meeting's agenda, but was tabled because there was some language that needed to be cleaned up inside of the ordinance, according to Abilene City Manager Robert Hanna.

A final reading and public hearing for the item will be scheduled for a future city council meeting.
