Abilene police say someone is poking holes in gas tanks and stealing the gas.

Between 10 p.m. Sunday and 6 a.m. Monday, someone poked two holes in the gas tank of a man's Dodge Durango and siphoned off most of his gas.

His pickup was parked at the Royal Inn in the 5600 block of S 1st Street.

Between 4 a.m. and 6 a.m. Monday, someone drilled a hole in the bottom of a gas tank and drained the gas from a vehicle at Firehouse Fitness in the 3500 block of S 7th Street.

According to the incident report, it will cost about $1,000 to replace a gas tank.

The victim in the second case planned to patch the hole for now.
