APD received close to 300 fireworks-related calls on the Fourth of July
ABILENE, Texas —
Fireworks were not the only things going off on the Fourth of July in Abilene because the phones were ringing off of the hook at the Abilene Police Department’s dispatch center as well.
According to the Abilene Police Department, their dispatch center received close to 300 fireworks-incident related calls on Wednesday.
The total number of phone calls would climb up to over 700 phone calls if duplicate phone calls were to be included in the tally.
No citations were issued, but a lot of warnings were issued after police officers made contact with individuals that were setting off fireworks.
The Abilene Police Department also reminded the citizens of Abilene that they would prefer to work with them as opposed to working against them.
