The food and alcoholic beverage distributor company Ben E. Keith has released a statement following an outage that has caused a shortage of products in local businesses.

The company released this statement on their website Monday:

"Ben E. Keith recently detected unusual activity in our network. In response, we proactively disabled business systems to minimize risk for our business and our customers. We understand that our customers, employees, and business partners have been impacted by the outage and continue to work around the clock to fully restore our systems and operations. Our employees, customers and their customers are our top priority, and we are committed to getting back to business as usual as soon as possible."

Restaurant chains Sonic and Raising Cane's have confirmed to KTXS that they are experiencing a shortage of products from the outage.

“We are severely affected. Please be kind and courteous because we have limited food," said Sonic in a statement.

Raising Cane's also released a statement saying, “We are working hard to get the products we need as quickly as possible, so we can continue serving our Abilene Caniacs the chicken finger meals they are craving! We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused our customers."

It is unclear how many restaurants are affected by the outage. Restaurants in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas have all reported shortages.
