LAREDO, Texas — Border Patrol agents arrested seven undocumented immigrants in a human smuggling attempt near Freer, Texas.
Agents said they arrested seven undocumented immigrants Saturday in a human smuggling attempt east of the U.S. Highway 59 Checkpoint. Reports said agents encountered a white F-150 showing behavior consistent with illegal smuggling.
When agents got a closer look at the truck, it sped off and they did not follow it due to weather and road conditions. Shortly after, a different agent saw the truck, and as the agent attempted to verify the license plate, the truck sped off again.
The agent followed the truck before it drove through a ranch gate and into the brush. When agents got to the truck, they observed foot steps of the individuals which led them to arrest seven undocumented immigrants in the brush.
Authorities said the individuals were processed accordingly.
