SAN ANTONIO - A 4-year-old boy is dead after being shot inside a Southeast Side home.
According to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus, the boy was inside a home at 1415 Avant Avenue, where several people were for a barbecue.
McManus said the boy and a 10-year-old were inside the home, alone in a separate bedroom. He told us it appears the children somehow got the gun and were playing with it, it's not currently clear who shot who.
After the child was shot, someone inside the home took him and tried to get to a hospital. However, traffic because of an accident near S. Rigsby and Gevers held them up. Thankfully, an ambulance was there and rushed the boy to the hospital.
However, the boy did end up dying from his injuries.
This is a developing story.
