Flu kills 20 children in the US so far this season
CINCINNATI (WKRC) - The flu is now officially an epidemic in the United States.
Twenty children in the United States have died so far. Two children in Kentucky, two in Ohio and one in Indiana are among those who have died from the flu.
The virus is widespread in 49 states, the only exception being Hawaii.
Experts say the flu is especially active this year. The main strain, H3N2, is one of the worst.
Doctors are recommending everyone get the flu shot, but the vaccine is only expected to be about 30 percent effective against the H3N2 strain.
