Haskell man arrested for shooting his girlfriend
HASKELL, Texas —
A Haskell man is behind bars on $100,000 bond after being accused of shooting his girlfriend.
The Haskell County Sheriff's Office is not yet saying what led up to the shooting, but they said that the shooter was dating the victim.
The Haskell County Sheriff's Office arrested 38-year-old Lucas Sammons on Tuesday morning.
Authorities said that Sammons shot his girlfriend at around 10:30 p.m. on Monday.
KTXS is not releasing the name of the victim at this time.
The Haskell County Sheriff's Office told KTXS that the shooting happened in a pasture on County Road 430 in rural Haskell County.
The victim was flown to University Medical Center in Lubbock, but she is now back at home recovering.
The victim declined to speak to KTXS on camera, but she said on Facebook that she is thankful for the prayers and second chances.
Sammons has been charged with aggravated assault family violence.
The Haskell County Sheriff's Office told KTXS that more information about the shooting will be released next week.
