KTXS Forecast: Cold front headed this way


ABILENE, Texas - The sun came through today after a cold and breezy Friday. More cloud cover has been coming in this afternoon, ahead of our next cold front to roll through the Big Country. Overnight, winds will be from the southwest at 10 to 15 but will shift to the north at 20 mph with stronger gusts as the front moves through. Temperatures tonight will be in the low 30s. 

Through the day Sunday, expect skies to clear and winds to breezy through much of the day. Temperatures will only climb to the upper 40s to low 50s across the area. Winds will calm into the evening time. Lows will be in the low to mid-20s. 

While we are not looking at a snowy, white Christmas, some frost is possible to start the day Monday. With mostly sunny skies through the day, temperatures will warm to the mid to upper 50s. Winds will turn to the south at 10 to 15 mph. Overnight, temperatures will drop to the low to mid-30s and cloud cover will increase. 

Early Tuesday morning, another cold front will move through the area. Winds will shift to the north at 15 to 20 mph. Highs will be in the 50s early in the day and temperatures will continue to drop behind the front. Winds will die down into the evening. Lows will be in the low 30s under mostly cloudy skies. 

Wednesday, expect mostly cloudy skies and a chilly, damp day. Rain chances are possible into the evening time. Highs are expected to stay in the low to mid-40s. Overnight, cloudy skies continue and lows drop near freezing once again. 

Thursday, rain chances continue and highs stay in mid to upper 40s. Expect skies to clear out as we head into the weekend.
